O2 UK is part of the wider O2 group which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telefónica S.A. O2 comprises mobile network operators in the UK and Ireland, along with integrated fixed/mobile businesses in Germany, the Czech Republic (Telefónica O2 Czech Republic) and the Isle of Man (Manx Telecom). It also owns 50 percent of the Tesco Mobile and Tchibo Mobilfunk, joint venture businesses in the UK and Germany respectively.
In addition, O2 includes O2 Airwave, which supplies secure digital communications to the emergency services, including the Police, Ambulance and Fire, as well as other public safety organisations.
O2 was formed in 2001 following the demerger from British Telecom of its former mobile business, BT Wireless.

- What is my message centre number?
For customers on the Pay & GoT Original, Pay & GoT Talkalot, Pay & GoT Wild and O2 Online Pay & GoT tariffs, your message centre number is +447802092035.For all other O2 customers, including U, Easylife, Pay & GoT Free Best Friend and all Pay Monthly tariffs, your message centre number is +447802000332. This option is normally found in your ‘Messages’ menu and then look for ‘Settings’ then ‘Message Centre Number’. - How do I set up my Voicemail?Dial 901 from your mobile phone and listen to the voice prompts.
- How do I check if O2 works in my area?O2 have a fantastic new tool which enables you to enter your postcode or town and view live data about the service within your area before buying a handset. Click here now to access O2’s Coverage Map including HSDPA and future coverage maps.
- How do I set up MMS/Picture Messaging/E-mail/GPRS?Please Click here to access O2’s GPRS and Media Messaging (Picture Messaging) set-up service. Otherwise, please read below:Normally when you insert your SIM card into a handset O2’s systems recongise this and automatically send you the settings, however should this not happen please try the following:If you’re a Pay Monthly customer you can either: Contact your service provider using the number on your billGet sent the settings via a text messageIf you’re a Pay & GoT customer you can:
Text “PICON” to 21400, to enable the service. You will then receive a series of text messages, with instructions to set your phone up.
Send a Media Message
Take a picture or video using the camera function on your mobile phone. Add text or a sound clip if you want to, then send it to:
Another camera phone The recipient will get the message on their mobile phone
A non-Media Messaging mobile phone The recipient will get a text message asking them to view the message on their operator’s website
An email address The recipient will pick up the Media Message in their email
Your own storage area on the O2 website Send the message to 6001 and it will be sent to your Stored Messages online. To access this, go to www.o2.co.uk, sign in and click on the Kodak tab and register your details to manage your Messages.

- How do you set up roaming and what is it?Roaming allows you to go to abroad and still use you mobile phone using the same mobile number. You many need to activate your roaming service and this can be done by caling Customer Services.
